Is This Real?

I find myself wondering what is happening to my life? I wake up every morning with this list. It seems so doable at 7:30 a.m. and then we are off and running. It seems like I get the kids out the door and check the clock again and it is already 11:30 time for lunch. Then after lunch Kyler needs a nap so we lay down. It never fails I beat him to sleep every time. Hopefully I wake up in time to pick up the car pool, if not Arleigh let's me know. I keep telling her it's really not that far to walk. Any way then it's homework, piano, scouts, soccer or whatever the flavor of the day is. Dinner then occasionally, a haircut or two. Reading, prayers then off to bed. Oh and feeding a baby every few hours, changing bums! I tell you I feel so complete. Then it's Shane's turn for my time. HA HA! One thing is for sure, I am never bored. I found this and thought it was fitting.

The things I know about them are.1- They love each other unconditionally.2- They are a great team. 3- They are great parents and grand-parents.

I truly feel so blessed to have been raised by them. They have taught me to have compassion for others, to work hard until the job is done, and to be forgiving. (Though I may not always do these things.) Looking back I have some great memories. We did and do alot together as a family. One of my favorite memories was of a crazy camping trip. As usual we got out of town a little later than planned. We were headed between Preston and Montpelier, to Strawberry. We pulled into camp around 10:30 p.m. It started raining so mom and dad quickly put up our awesome hand me-down,sewn up a few times, tent. They got us out of the car and settled in for a long night. It was pouring rain and needless to say our tent quickly filled with water. Fortunately dad had purchased a couple air mattresses, the kind you pumped up with a foot pump, we were basically floating around the tent. Much to our dismay the people in the camp ground next to ours had a baby who was not into camping. I think that baby cried for two hours straight. We were all finally asleep, around 1:00 a.m. when my mom awoke to a growling sound and several people screaming. Again she heard it so she woke up dad and told him" There is a bear in the camp, we have to get the kids to the car". Calm and collected he laid there a minute and they heard it again. Ready to wake us up they heard it one more time and realized it was a herd of "lost sheep". The next morning when we woke up everything was dripping wet. Needless to say we cut our camping trip short and went home. We always seem to have a good laugh even if it is a the expense of our mother. Thanks mom and dad for being you. I am proud to be your daughter, and I look forward to many more years of celebrating you two. May the good times roll! I love you guys.

Garden Anyone?

In my moms old house she always had a garden. It always seemed prosperous. We now live next door to each other and have this great garden spot, however when the gardening talent got handed out I must have been in the back room. The first summer we lived here we hauled out all the dirt and debree from building, then we put some manure(P.U.) on and tilled the heck out of it. Everything we grew that year tasted like crap(truly) and we had mountainous weeds. Needless to say my mom was a little disappointed. So last year I promised that I would be a better helper. She was very excited and bought all these different types of tomatoes and even blueberries. We had squash, cantaloupe, cucumbers, and all sorts of other stuff. Now rewind a bit to my dear husband who is a habitual thrower awayer(I know that's not a word but that's what he is). This has caused several different contentious moments in our marriage. So the garden was looking pretty good, but then Shane decided to help out. This time he didn't throw anything away, no worse, he went out in the garden with round-up. Why on earth would you do that? Only he didn't tell anyone. One day my mom and I were talking and she said " alot of the stuff in the garden is dying" hmmm. That night Shane and I were talking and I asked if he knew anything about this. He got that guilty look, the one I am familiar with, and told me about the sudden need to kill those big weeds. Which in turn were the squash. Again the garden was not great and I promised my mom next year I would do better. When it was finally nice enough to start the garden this year I had been put on bed rest with Adie. My mom and dad were very diligent. This was "Our Year". They hauled in truck loads of dirt, tilled it, planted posts, and on and on. I just sat in my house and occasionally in the lawn chair and watched. It turned out to be awesome.Shane promised that he would stay out(I forgot to mention that the first year he pulled out some random tomatoes that he thought were weeds.) Any how it was going great, then one day my sweet dad was out spraying the bark with ground neutralizer and he got this wild hair to spray the rows in the garden. What the Hell!!! Needless to say my poor dad didn't hear the end of it for quite some time, actually he hasn't heard the end of it yet. I would suggest not buying that stuff because apparently it doesn't work, luckily for my dad. Again the garden was overtaken by weeds.Althouh, we did have these yummiest tiny tomatoes and some really good peas, so maybe there's hope. It looks like good "next year" country to me. Shane and dad have been banished unless supervised.HaHa. And mom I promise I'll be a better helper.

The kids helped dad clean out the garden, now hopefully it will be ready next year. Dad and Shane really haven't been banished, however I hope they'll both think twice before spray weeding again.

I AM THANKFUL FOR……

…the mess to clean after a party
because it means I have been surrounded by family and friends.

…the taxes I pay because it
means that I am employed.

…the clothes that fit a little to snug
because it means I have enough to eat.

…my shadow who watches me work
because it means I am in the sunshine.

…the spot I find at the far end of the parking lot
because it means I am capable of walking.

…all the complaining I hear about government
because it means we have freedom of speech.

…a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning,
and gutters that need fixing
because it means I have a home.

…the lady behind me in church who sings of key
because it means that I can hear.

…my huge heating bill because it means I am warm.

…the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours
because it means that I am alive.

…weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day
because it means I have been productive.

…the piles of laundry and dishes
because it means my loved ones are nearby.

My mom's visiting teachers gave this to her, and I loved it so here you go. Enjoy.

Catch Up

Sometimes I forget how much fun we have. I just downloaded my pictures and realized I am not as boring as I thought. We have had quite a busy Fall. First we carved pumpkins.

Then on Halloween Eve(?) the kids made mummy hot dogs, and I made them brain soup.

Needless to say they were all a little disturbed about the brains, however the neighbor ate it all, what a polite kid!

Then on Halloween my mom and I took them bowling. It's pretty sad when your 3 year old gets a better score than you. And if any of you has ever bowled with me you know I am not lying!!

The next day they made this awesome box fort with the neighbors.

Meanwhile Adie and Grandpa napped.

Every year we go to Park City for a weekend. It's so much fun and this year there was enough snow to go sledding, of course with Uncle Mike ,Aunt Sandy, and Grandpa.
